‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Interstellar’ lead nominations for the 41st Annual Saturn Awards with 11 and 10 nominations, respectively; ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ follows with nine nominations.
This year, for the first time, book-to-screen adaptations have their own separate categories, allowing super hero tentpoles to go up against each other while leaving room for some other genre films to emerge.
In television, The Walking Dead scared up an impressive seven nominations with the Bryan Fuller NBC series, Hannibal, achieving six nominations.
The organization has created a special category to consider television series which are derived from comic book super heroes -- Best Superhero Adaptation Television Series. Filling out this new category are the series Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Arrow, Constantine, The Flash, and Gotham.
In home entertainment, the nominations are dominated by Warner Home Entertainment with eight nominations which includes the William Friedkin film Sorcerer and Batman: The Complete Television Series. The Clive Barker film, Nightbreed: The Director's Cut, has also been nominated (Best DVD/BD Special Edition Release).
The Academy is beginning a new program this year called Affiliate Membership, which allows everyone to be involved in the voting this year. Affiliate membership provides the opportunity to vote in selected categories in both Film and Television.
Check out the full list of nominees, below. This year's winners will be announced at the 41st Annual Saturn Awards which takes place on June 25, 2015.
