The new show from Watch Next, which blends fantasy, action, adventure, and humor for tween audiences, is set in a world where some kids can transform into hybrid creatures.
The free-to-air French broadcaster Gulli has greenlit production on Wild Kat, an animated series created and developed by Watch Next in partnership with M6 Group and Super RTL.
The show blends fantasy, adventure, and humor to appeal to tween audiences, and is set in a world where some kids can transform into hybrid creatures called Werelings. Main protagonist Kat works with her friends Idris and Dimitri to stop others from misusing their powers, while also navigating middle school.
“With Wild Kat, we wanted to create an action-packed series with spectacular battles that still captures the emotions experienced by its characters,” said Sylvain Huchet, producer and co-creator of the series, in a joint statement with Jérémy Guiter, director and co-creator. “Kat and her friends are not superheroes but teenagers facing age-related challenges, particularly those of identity and difference. It is this sensitivity and immersive quality that make the series unique and will, we believe, resonate with the young audience.”
Wild Kat Season 1 will include 26 22-minute episodes.
