Gmax Allows Gamers To Create The Impossible

Discreet's free gaming software gmax, which is based on Discreet's 3D modeling, animation and rendering software 3ds max, has already been embraced by the gaming community, with over 350,000 game "modders" using the free software to expand their favorite games with new characters, levels of interactivity and animated objects. Now developers are realizing the value of creating gmax ready games and Microsoft's latest, IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES, is currently available. Developed by Relic Entertainment, IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES is a 3D real-time strategy game where players must amass an army of mutant monsters to defend the world against a power-crazed villain. With the option of combining numerous animals to form new creatures, players can use gmax to customize armies and strategies based on their creations, adding textures, objects and interactions to their own "impossible creature." A gmax game pack is available from Relic Entertainment's www.relic.com/rdn/ by joining the Relic Developers Network (RDN). Gamers currently using gmax will be able to alter and create new content for the game including monsters, objects and completely new environments, with samples found at www.molotovgraphics.com. Other gmax ready titles include Microsoft's DUNGEON SIEGE, FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2002 PROFESSIONAL EDITION, COMBAT FLIGHT SIMULATOR, and TRAIN SIMULATOR, as well as Electronic Art's COMMAND & CONQUER RENEGADE from Westwood Studios and Australian developer Auran's railroad simulation game, TRAINZ. gmax 1.2 is available as a free software download from www.discreet.com/products/gmax.
