Signature short film promoting 4th annual Berkeley, CA-based animation festival is directed by visual artist Manshen Lo, with music and sound by Skillbard.

The GLAS Animation Festival has revealed the new signal film for its upcoming 4th annual edition, set for March 21-24 in Berkeley, California. London-based visual artist Manshen Lo, the film’s director, combines realistic line work with minimalistic compositions as she investigates the subtle tension between humans and urban space in contemporary life. Her approach to drawing has roots in East Asia, while taking influence from comic art, cinematography and the ligne-claire style. Vincent and Tom, heads of Studio Skillbard, a friendly team of composers and sound designers also based in London, provided the film’s sound and music. They have experience in film, television, games, sound art, pop music and sonic branding.
The festival also announced its first round of special guests, representing a wide spectrum of independent animators, artists, educators, show creators, curators, and distributors. The list includes: Koji Yamamura, Michele Cournoyer, Dennis Tupicoff, Marc James Roel, Julia Pott, Jim Trainor, Kim Laughton, Christy Karacas, Meghan Oretsky, Luce Grosjean and Irene Kotlarz.
With the event just around the corner, organizers will soon be announcing competition selections, curated programs, more special guests, and the complete festival schedule. In the meantime, passes for GLAS Animation Festival 2019 are now on sale.
