Doggy Poo Shines with NAPPA Gold

The Korean-produced clay animated film DOGGY POO, won a Gold Award from the National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA). The film, released by Central Park Media, won in the category of 2004 Videos and DVDs for Preschoolers.

Itasca Studio produced the feature, DOGGY POO, based on the best-selling childrens book by Jung-Saeng Kwon. The film also won the Viewers Choice Award at the 2003 Big Apple Anime Fest and was awarded Best Pilot Prize at the 2003 Tokyo Intl Anime Fair. It was also named Best Kids Film: Spudfest Film Festival 2004 and was awarded two Bronze Telly statuettes in Telly Award categories: Children's Audience and TV or Cable program Children.

DOGGY POO continues to win many awards all over the world, but a Gold Award from a respected organization like NAPPA is especially gratifying since DOGGY POO is one of only three Gold Award recipients selected among more than 600 entries, stated Shigeki Morii, marketing manager.

Directed by Oh-Sung Kwon and exec produced by Hong-Gee Kim, DOGGY POO is the story of lump of canine feces who feels useless and ponders his existence in the world until he is befriended by a lovely dandelion sprout who helps him find meaning and purpose.

The original Doggy Poo book won the prestigious Childrens Literature Award in 1968. The author went on to publish more than 110 short stories, a book of poems and eight childrens novels, including Tears of God and Mong-Shil.

As an award recipient, DOGGY POO will be covered on Parenthood.com, in all 13 United Parenting Publications magazines spanning six states in the U.S., and in NAPPA Editorial Partners covering an additional 15 states.
