Disney Channel Updates 'Fish Hooks' Mobile App

Disney updates their iOS app “Fish Hooks” with new characters, game mechanics, and play levels.

A new version of the Disney/ABC Television Group Digital Media team’s hugely popular Fish Hooks  App for iPad, iPhone and iPod is now available in the App store with crisp, clear high definition graphics and an expansion pack that includes:

  • Five new characters to play as: Randy Cunningham, Finberly, Shellsea, Bleak Molly and Jumbo Shrimp.
  • Six new game mechanics. Players’ skills are tested as they maneuver through "Seaweed Swing" and "Sticky Hands," and challenged as they work to avoid being shocked by "Electric Eels" or electrocuted by "Jelly Fish." But never fear players have two new advantages: "The Octopus" can use his tentacles to help players swing though a level and "Warps" can be used to transport throughout a level.

"Fans can’t get enough of the current Fish Hooks game so it’s a clear choice for us to expand on the app," said Lauren DeVillier, vice president of digital media, Disney Channels Worldwide. "With the great success of the initial launch of the app, our team looked at what resonated with fans and responded by adding new characters and features to ensure the best possible user experience. It’s also a great digital touch point to the series on Disney Channel."

Fish Hooks, which has already been downloaded more than 3 million times, features Milo the fish and a host of his aquatic friends from Freshwater High. In the game, the ever "crabby" Randy Pincherson lives up to his mischievous ways, challenging Milo to an elaborate obstacle course game that he has created. Players assume the role of Milo and must master the art of making and popping bubbles to successfully navigate the treacherous waters of Randy's diabolical design.

Players float, fall and fling themselves through the mazes to advance, all while maneuvering with great precision. Perfect timing and puzzle solving skills are essential to avoid the increasingly difficult obstacles and master all of the underwater moves needed to win. Additional characters including Bea, Oscar, Clamantha, Albert Glass, and Koi can be unlocked as the game play progresses.
