Disney Channel U.K. Goes On Demand

Disney Channel U.K. has signed a new deal with BT Vision, allowing viewers to watch Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney programming on demand in a Disney-branded environment. The service will launch on October 24, 2008.

The multi-year agreement will see some of Disney Channel's most popular live action and animation series, original movies and key Playhouse Disney programs available to customers as pay per view or as part of a subscription to the Kids Pack. These will include Disney Channel's global hit series HANNAH MONTANA, the channel's latest animated hit comedy series, PHINEAS AND FERB and a range of Playhouse Disney programs including MICKEY MOUSE CLUB HOUSE and MY FRIENDS TIGGER AND POOH.

This new agreement underlines Disney Channel's commitment to using new technologies to put choice in the hands of kids and families to let them engage with the channel's content via as many different platforms as possible.

Over the past year Disney Channel has grown its audience share by 20.5% year on year. Playhouse Disney celebrated its most successful performance ever in the U.K. with the channel attracting more than 5 million viewers per quarter since January 2008 and increasing its audience share by 40% year-on-year, making it the fastest-growing kids' channel in the U.K.

BT Vision's Kids pack offers hours of programming all available on demand and free from advertising from the leading children's television brands. BT Vision also offers parents the security of being able to set a PIN for all On Demand viewing.
