The prolific producer would gain control of all things DC superhero, taking the reins from Walter Hamada and reporting directly to Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.
Out with the old, in with the new. Recently appointed Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav is making headlines with his extreme cuts in the name of a sweeping 10-year plan meant to reshape company (and compete with Marvel). Amidst this veritable content and programming hurricane, according to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Dan Lin is in talks to take charge of all things DC superhero, relieving current DC Films president Walter Hamada of his duties. The new role would mean reporting directly to Zaslav and bypassing Warner Bros. Pictures’ heads Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, HBO/HBO Max chief Casey Bloys, and Warner Bros. TV chair Channing Dungey, effectively granting full control of the DCEU.
Lin has some impressive titles under his belt, boasting credits on Aladdin, The LEGO Movie, Sherlock Holmes, It, and the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series for Netflix. Lin also runs the production company Ridgeback, a nonprofit that aids BIPOC and budding entrepreneurs. It is clear the prolific producer can handle both film, TV, and franchises. Could DC have found its very own Feige?
Other potential candidates for the DCEU overlord role included Emma Watts (Alita: Battle Angel, I, Robot), Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Little Women), Matt Tolmach (Morbius, Venom), Sean Bailey (The Core, TRON: Legacy) and Greg Berlanti (The Flash, Arrow). Who will win this game of roles?
