DAA Signs 'Passion' VFX Supervisor Rae

Digital Artist Agency (DAA) has signed THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST visual effects supervisor Ted Rae to feature, television and commercial projects.

In addition to his work in Italy on the Mel Gibson religious epic that raked in a heavenly $125M in its first five days, Rae also served as the film's second unit director and second unit dp. Rae was additionally responsible for vfx design, realtime motion control, miniature photography, CGI and digital compositing.

Rae has extensive and wide-ranging practical experience on feature films, television series and commercials, overseeing blue and greenscreen photography, high speed miniatures, motion control and providing CG imagery and digital compositing.

Previously Rae provided select on-set supervision and vfx design and digital compositing for director Oliver Stone's ANY GIVEN SUNDAY and NIXON.

Rae has contributed to other feature films such as BEETLEJUICE, IDLE HANDS, BUGSY, MEMOIRS OF AN INVISIBLE MAN, MYSTIC PIZZA, PONTIAC MOON, THE RESURRECTED, THE ABYSS, DRIVE and THE TERMINATOR.

Rae's television projects include visual effects supervision and/or second unit direction for STARGATE: SG-1 (two-hour pilot and two episodes), BABYLON 5 (22 one-hour episodes), Disney's YOU WISH (12 half-hour episodes), TROUBLESHOOTERS: TRAPPED BENEATH THE EARTH, Disney's STILL NOT QUITE HUMAN and THE BIRDS II: LAND'S END.

Rae has also vfx supervised and/or shot music videos (Insane Clown Posse "The Sixth Joker," The Nuns "Archangel") and commercials (Got Milk THE ABDUCTION, At Home Healthcare REMEMBER WHEN, Sony OMEGABOOST, Nestle Quik CHOCTOMATRON, Epyx MINDBLOW, US Sprint FACTORY and Coors Arctic Ice NOTHING'S BOLDER.

Rae is the recipient of several international awards and nominations: an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Visual Effects for STARGATE SG-1: CHILDREN OF THE GODS' two-hour premiere; both a British Academy Award (BAFTA) nomination and a Saturn nomination for Best Special Effects for BEETLEJUICE; a Clio Award for Make-up Effects for Epyx MINDBLOW; and a Best Cinematography Award at the 8th Annual Magnolia Film Festival for short film SOLOMON BERNSTEIN'S BATHROOM, on which Rae served as dp and associate producer.
