The Center for Digital Imaging and Sound (CDIS), a Burnaby, Canada-based entertainment technology college, is now offering full training in Softimage's latest ground-breaking product - Softimage XSI (Sumatra). Softimage XSI is the first truly non-linear animation program with features such as real-time rendering and non-destructive animation mixing. As one of the few training centers with certified Softimage 3D instructors on staff, CDIS has served as a beta test site for Softimage XSI. In addition to preparing new graduates for the work force, CDIS is also reaching out to animators and visual effects professionals by offering intensive corporate seminars, workshops and courses. In response to an increased demand for courses, the current 20,000 sq. foot CDIS training facility is set to double in size this fall. The new 41,000 sq. foot campus will house two new recording studios, including a 'mix-to-picture' surround sound studio and an automated music production facility. A second film sound stage will be added alongside extensive digital video, effects and animation labs. Major expansion in the school's animation, effects, Internet, video game, recording arts and digital film programs will compliment the new premises.
