LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO – October 13, 2011 – Join Casper the Friendly Ghost and his friends as they dress up and get ready for Halloween in Casper’s Scare School: Costume Closet, the latest app by Mindshapes, developer and publisher of interactive and fun educational apps. With this spookily engaging and fun app, Casper and his friends Ra and Mantha can become a knight, a fairy, a scarecrow or even an astronaut with the touch of a hand!
Ideal for children ages three to seven, Casper’s Scare School: Costume Closet is available on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, and is specifically designed to strengthen short-term memory. Players can choose from 15 unique costumes to create the perfect Halloween outfit for Casper and his friends. Once a costume is selected, children are encouraged to memorize the outfit so they can match costume pieces and collect them in their closet throughout the course of the game.
As more puzzles are solved in Casper’s Scare School: Costume Closet, the memory tasks become increasingly more challenging, encouraging object recognition and grouping skills. Kids can interact with Casper, Mantha and Ra as they dress them up in items of clothing from the costume closet, and can even showcase all their work by saving the image of a customized costume to share with friends and family.
“Short-term memory is a critical element of mental agility. We wanted to create a game using a character that children know and love, and Casper the Friendly Ghost is the perfect character to engage children in this scarily good app,” said James Peak, education consultant for Mindshapes.
In order to bring this iconic character to their all-new app, Mindshapes signed a partnership with Classic Media, a global media company with a portfolio of some of the world’s leading family entertainment brands, including Casper the Friendly Ghost.
“It’s been great collaborating with the talented team at Mindshapes,” said Nicole Blake, executive vice president for Global Marketing & Consumer Products, Classic Media. “We look forward to bringing the world’s friendliest ghost to kids through this new educational experience. Who could be better than Casper to scare up some fun and help children learn at the very same time?”
Casper’s Scare School: Costume Closet by Mindshapes is available on the App Store for $2.99.
