APC Kids Secures Global Rights to Russia’s ‘Kid-E-Cats’

Animated kids series produced by Studio Metranom/Metrafilms for CTC Media in Russia will launch at MIPCOM 2016, with sales handled by newly-appointed APC managing director Lionel Marty.

PARIS -- APC Kids, the children’s entertainment arm of boutique financier and distributor About Premium Content (APC), has secured global television rights (outside Russia and China) to Kid-E-Cats, the 52 x 5-minute animated series produced by Studio Metranom/Metrafilms for CTC in Russia.

Kid-E-Cats tells the story of three kittens: Cookie, Pudding and their kid sister Candy, who are always ready to jump into action with endless enthusiasm and energy. Their imagination knows no bounds, and these kitties are capable of absurdly funny problem-solving. Through life’s little lessons, they learn to look before they leap -- well sometimes!

APC was instrumental in bringing together all parties involved in the deal: Metranom/Metrafilms, a respected Russian animation studio, leading channel CTC and Nigel Pickard, who will act as Executive Producer for APC. Ceri Barnes (Floogals, Postman Pat, Casper’s Scare School, Guess with Jess) is Story Editor and will work with Russian writers and creators of the show Dmitriy Vysotsky and Andrey Sikorsky.

APC Kids will launch the series at MIPCOM with sales managed by Lionel Marty who has been collaborating with APC for the last two years and is now joining APC subsidiary APC Kids as a partner and Managing Director.

Kid-E-Cats is an exciting new project for APC Kids. The local version has won over audiences in Russia and we are looking forward to working with Nigel to create a version for children around the globe,” says Marty. “I am excited to be joining APC Kids at this time of expansion. Our collaboration over the last two years has resulted in a growing portfolio of kids’ properties and I look forward to working with Laurent and Emmanuelle to further develop the business.”

Lionel Marty has a senior experience in TV distribution and marketing on international kids brands such as Fantastic 4, Code Lyoko, Chloe’s Closet and Sam-Sam.
