Hi, new here.
Ive been working my first animation job for a few months now, and I feel something fishy is going on as far as my quotas, and contracts.
Say I have a contract for 500 frames per week, and a specific salary per week, lets go with an even $1000. That, in theory, would average to 100 frames a day.
What happens if there is a holiday during that day, or if i were to get sick? If christmas eve and christmas day fall in the middle of the week, I would expect my quota for that week to be 300; but so far at work this has not been the case; during holidays it has remained at the maximum.
If that is the case, would it not logically follow that in order to meet that quota i would need to work during the holiday, and be paid time and a half?
same hypothetical but for sick days, paid vacation, and unpaid vacation. How would this all work? As it stands on 5 day work weeks I consistently exceed my quota, and on other weeks im getting reprimanded. It kindof feels to me like lazy bookkeeping; and I feel a bit taken advantage of.
Also what is the appropreate way to approach any descrepancy? I know a lot of people are afraid to rock the boat, but I also dont want to be a doormat.
I know the internet probably isnt the best place for legal advice but maybe someone could point me in the right direction. I am working in Canada.
Thanks!
