I have very recently picked up Maya 2017 to learn animation with, and am also new to the forums here. I havent looked at any other products offered by Autdodesk, but had gotten a brief look at 3DS Max. I havent looked into the software in detail, but it seemed to me there was similarities between 3DS Max and Maya. From what I could tell, Maya's focus seemed to learn more towards the film industry, while 3DS Max is towards the gaming industry.
Can anyone tell me some of the similarities and differences between the two. If i can use either program interchangably. For instance modelling a character in Maya and using it for rigging or animating in 3DS Max, or vice versa. Lastly, if anyone would like to connect
