I am currently a college junior studying in animation and i have been trying to find companies that offered animation internships over the summer, but it is harder than i imagined. Does anyone have suggestions for places to apply to for the summer? Again, sorry if this is in the wrong section.
this might sound like a daft question but how old are you? I was looking for international internships in america (i live in the uk) and it says about being in the junior year of college - as it's completely different here, how old would that make someone? Just so I can get a rough idea if I would be eligable.
I've looked at pixar and dreamworks for summer internships and i read that WB and Disney do too.
Typically, colleges in the US are 4 years and are called (from first to last) freshman, sophmore, junior and senior. So Junior would be your 3rd year of college. I'd say companies want students with 2-3 years of schooling so they have some skills and a good idea of what they want to do.
Application deadlines for summer internships were probably up in the spring, but you never know. Plan on applying next summer in march '09.
2 NY studios that offer internships are Blue Sky Studios and Animation Collective. Make sure you consider living expenses/rent where ever you decide to go.
Good luck.
