New PhD Program in Media Arts and Practice at USC
The School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California is pleased to invite applications to a new, interdivisional, practice-oriented Ph.D. program in Media Arts and Practice (iMAP). The program is designed for students wishing to pursue parallel interests in the theory and practice of Media Arts, combining innovative art practice with leading edge scholarly research. Drawing on the strengths of each program within the world-renowned School of Cinematic Arts (Production, Critical Studies, Writing, Interactive Media, and Animation and Digital Arts), iMAP seeks to define and promote a new generation of scholar-practitioners who merge historical and theoretical knowledge with creative and critical design skills.

NIna Paley's independent animated feature film "Sita" will screen in San Francisco on Saturday, December 1st, 8:00pm, at Oddball Film (275 Capp Street, San Francisco, CA 94110). Admission is $10 in support of Nina's production and post-production costs. Nina will be there, armed with T-shirts, samosas, and a smile! :-) We also understand that by popular demand, a November 17th screening has been added in New York City. New York chapter sponsor Stan Lozowski writes that "Behind Forgotten Eyes" won a silver medal at the 2007 Everglades International Film Festival. Stan's company, Lylofilm, produced and directed the animated opening titles and scenes for this Korean film (www.behindforgotteneyes.com).
