I personally like Ken Davis posts here..But I guess some extra advise for us newbies would'nt hurt.... This industry has a lot of complexities that even a small contribution helps...:rolleyes:

Yep, its all sound very basic advice.
Making sure new freelancers understand things like working for free, the value (and reality) of contracts, and the importance (and sanity) of a sensible working schedule are all other things that can be added to such a manifesto. Its probably a good idea to turn this into some kind of expanded project and combine different inputs from other freelancing walks of life into this. There's hundreds of additional and minutae anecdotes and bits of advice that can be added to this.
The most basic philosophy about being a freelancer is that no-one else is going to look after you or your career, so having all the "tools" you can to guide you is just good sense.
