i m more interested in 3d animation than 2d animation so i m wondering if i take 3d animation program with 2d animation program how hard will it be for me to learn 3d animation program if i don't take 2d animation before will it be really impossible for me to learn 3d animation
also i have to look at tution of animation schools cause i don't work in very high paying job since they have 24,000 tution fees for 3d animation and for 2D animation it is 16,000 so if i take both prgram simultaneously total tution will be 40,000 that will be quite expensive for me so that's why i m thinking about taking one program diploma(3D) instead of doing 2 programs
3D pretty much follows the same principles of animation like Squash & Stretch, Anticipation, Timing, Weight, etc that 2D animation does. You really don't need a foundation in 2D animation to be good in 3D Animation. 3D requires you to learn the ins and out of the software of you choice though and that can be tedious. If you really want to learn the Art of 3D animation I would strongly suggest the online program of Animation Mentor which teaches you the art of Character Animation in 3D or whatever other medium you choose. Its under $15,000 for the whole program and many of its students have gone on to work at excellent studios.
go to www.animationmentor.com for more information.
EDIT: I should also note that Animation Mentor does not teach you the ins and out of the software, just how to animate already rigged and textured models.
Software: TVPaint Pro, Harmony Standalone, Storyboard Pro, Maya, Modo, Arnold, V-Ray, Maxwell, NukeX, Hiero, Mari, RealFlow, Avid, Adobe CS6
Hardware: (2) HP Z820 Workstations + 144-core Linux Render Farm + Cintiq 24HD Touch
Hello b24.
My 2 cents is that classical 2D animation training is important.
Learn the basics and then the software.
Some guys that do some real good 3D animation mention on their site
