well i have to submit a concept for distribution to two broadcasters in two different countries. One of them has asked me for a Treatment the other has asked for a show bible.
personally i find the layout of the treatment very different from the layout of the bible. they do essentially contain the same information but it seems to have been laid out different for the treatment.
have any of you guys come across this? because i do reckon that one should alter the pitch bible for each pitch anyway so creating a separate treatment shouldnt be a hassle.
or am i completely off base here??
Harvey - apologies mate :D
There's actually an existing synonymous term, "pitch book."
I don't understand why AWN needs to employ "pitch bible" when "pitch book" already exists. Maybe they just want to make a pitch book seem more important; which reminds me: from now on, all my posts are proverbs. Say it with me.
Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming. (I'll pray for thee.) :D
f**k it. u got me. ill use pitch book from now on. no reason why it cant be replaced for bible
In my experience, a treatment is not the same thing as a pitch... book. ;)
A treatment is pretty much the outline of a specific story of a script. A pitch bible/book outlines the concept, world, and characters of the entire series. So a treatment deals with a single story while a pitch bible/book deals with an entire series.

actually you are perfectly right.
BUT
a tv show treatment is different from say a script treatment. you need to sell the show in the treatment and the let them know what its about etc. this is where the lines between pitch book and treatment get blurry.
I guess you are referring "treatment" to mean a proposal, synopsis, or presentation. In that case, a treatment is like a pitch book, but it's just not as detailed or as long. You still describe what the show is about, the world, and the characters, but usually in 1-3 pages.
Provide character descriptions and artwork of the main characters, but limit other characters to brief 1-2 sentence descriptions. Also include ideas for other episodes, but in brief paragraph form.
The goal is to make the reader interested in the idea and want to learn more about it, but without having to go through pages and pages of work.
