Animator Blogs... Anyhere?

hi, we just recently started a production blog. it is quite unpolished in its look coz we dont know much bout blogging and quite busy. But we do want to share our experiences as well as our rantings keep a sort of diary of the production.
different members of our team will be posting.
if anyone here does the same or knows of other production blogs/animator blogs please do let us know.

stop by then.

Hello. Here's a random selection of the pages I read frequently:

Jason Schleifer: http://jonhandhisdog.com/shh-life-er/

Uli Meyer: http://ulimeyer1000.blogspot.com/

Jim Hull: http://sewardstreet.com/

Matt Jones: http://www.mattjonezanimation.blogspot.com/

Spline Doctors: http://splinedoctors.blogspot.com/

there are some linked to on www.cartoonbrew.com

Fwak! (The creators of Mucha Lucha)
http://www.xanga.com/fwak

Cold Hard Flash
http://www.coldhardflash.com/

Pixar
http://pixaranimation.blogspot.com/

At the risk of sounding really non-internet savvy, what the hell is a "blog"? I have heard the tern repeatedly, but never bothered to ask what it means.

Thanks

Hey Wade,

It comes from "web log" - basically someone's online journal. This year has been the year of the animation blog, presumably popularised by blogger.com's newly added ability to post images. Now you no longer have to mess around with web designy bits, you can simply write the content, (even email it, if you wish), and the software will automatically update your site.

I would encourage you to check out Uli Meyer's blog (linked above), which is a great example of an animation blog.

Cheers Kevan. Was worried that some of the forums undesirables might rip me apart for asking. I am happy you gave me a good, clear response.

You're very welcome, lad!

I asked the same question earlier this year. It's really easy to set one up - mine is now integrated into my website. People do actually read them. I had no idea anyone would actually want to read anything I have to say, but I guess where I work helps a bit.

: )

Hey Kevan. You know Emilio G. down there in LA? If so, what does he think of the "press" he is getting from CGChannel.com he is doing with that other joker who used to work for me (the one prodominantly featured in the two first videos who was spoofed by the Milwakee boys this week)?

Cheers

Yes, I sit next to Emilio. We're in SF though, rather than LA.

Emilio is very excited to put out his DVD. He is a very talented animator, so I'm thinking it's all going to be good.

I wouldn't want to comment on all the craziness surrounding the CG Channel trailer things, particularly on a public forum, but I will say that the publicity certainly hasn't done them any harm!
