Sketching Pencils?

I've noticed that a lot of people use a blue or red coloured pencil for their sketches, and I was just wondering if any ordinary coloured pencil would work fine, or if it's a specific kind that's best for sketching as opposed to colouring.

Thanks.

I am new at this but I would say that any pencil will work for. I have been getting whatever is on sell, but I am in the low end of the learning curve.

The colored pencils that you see people use are probably Col-Erase pencils. I didn't care about them until I "borrowed" one from a friend, and now they're pretty much all I use. The "lead" is light and easy to erase, and it doesn't smudge like graphite pencils. You can get them in any art supply store, they're relatively inexpensive.
