The 47th Edition of the Festival Rose d'Or (The Festival For Entertainment Television Programming) will take place on the shores of Lake Lucerne, Switzerland from May 5-9, 2007, under the management of the newly set up company Rose d'Or Ltd. Freddy Burger Management bought the rights to the Rose d'Or Festival this summer and appointed producer Urban Frye as the new md.
Under the new management, the festival will stand on three main pillars -- the competition, the conferences and the filmkiosk.
This year the competition has been changed and new categories have been developed. To qualify for entry the program has to have been produced or broadcast for the first time within the previous year and belong to one of the seven Festival categories: Show, Reality, Comedy, Sitcom, Soap, Performing Arts and Arts Documentary.
Additionally, in celebration of the 400th anniversary of opera, a special opera award for the best opera recording, the best opera film or the best documentary about an opera topic will be granted in cooperation with IMZ (Vienna International Music Center).
Alongside the competition, conferences and discussion panels will take place focusing on new formats and technologies in TV production and distribution. The opportunity for an exchange of opinions and networking, as well as a large number of meetings about current topics presided over by leading experts, are already slated for May.
One of the centerpieces of the Rose d'Or this year will be the filmkiosk comprising 120 screening booths. The filmkiosk offers Festival delegates the opportunity to view the best new entertainment programming from around the world. The state-of-the-art digital library system gives delegates instant access to any program they wish to view at a click.
The new Festival center will be at the Grand Casino in Lucerne. Its infrastructure with the panorama hall, the Casineum, bars and restaurants and numerous meeting rooms lends itself perfectly for the venue.
