Hello I have been wanting to animate for quite some time but I hit a dead end and some assistance would be appreciated!
I have been wanting to learn frame by frame animation so I got Macromedia flash. I stopped trying to learn to animate for a bit so I could improve on drawing but I have not been doing so well for that either. Some tips and advice would really be appreciated on learning to draw and animating. Some attempts I have made at learning to draw were attempts at drawing realism to drawing already existing characters but so far no luck and this has been going on for about a year. Some tips and a little push forward in the right direction would really help thank you!

Best thing for you to do is to work on basic animation exercises.
I would suggest you to get some drawing books such as Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards or The Practice and Science of Drawing by Harold Speed. You can get easy to follow exercises and countless useful tips from them. Once you've been through 10-20 of them your drawing skills will have inevitably improved. You can check out an article I recently wrote on best instructional drawing books if you'd like (http://animataurus.com/drawing-books/) I would also suggest you to set some animation software (perhaps something free to start with) and practice some digital stuff. Perhaps get a cheap tablet as well. Anyway, good luck!

I agree with what Animataurus has said. That's a good starting point--or well, starting point, a good instructional book will guide you throughout your entire career basically.
Once you learn to draw--and learn about weight, anatomy, the shapes of things--animating will be easier. The last thing you want during animation is wondering how to draw hands or feet.
Still, it's never easy, though. Animation is hard work. It's slave labor. But if you master it, it's a slave labor of love.
Thanks so much ^w^ I am currently reading drawing on the right side of the brain.
