Opinions and suggestions are very very much appreciated.
I posted a thread a couple of days ago re INTUOS3(A4) vs CINTIQ 15x but havent got much reply.
I read/ heard plenty of excellent things re the INTUOS but havent found or almost heard anything re the CINTIQ.
1 - I know both of them cater for digital art but which one of them is more suitable for it ?
2 - Does the CINTIQ caters for the same software as the INTUOS does ?
3 - Without taking into consideration the price of the CINTIQ, which one would you personally choose to work on ?
4 - What software would you use for digital art ? (Personally I was thinking on the CorelPainter IX)
Thanks guys/gals
Please help...
The idea of drawing directly onto the screen is more appealing BUT with the prohobitive cost of this technology, who has ever realy tried it? I stiil want to hear that they design a disc-shaped monitor that fits into ones animation desk.IN Theory cintiq sounds appealing but anything I draw on needs to tilt like a desk and turn like disc. ...And what about wear on the screen , etc....?
I think many people have your same Questions, friend.
This was at Cintiq's site:
Tactile
Cintiq implements unique LCD technologies to achieve a natural paper-like experience. The surface has two coatings, one to diminish glare and another to provide a texture simulating the feel of paper. These surfaces are also hardened to provide durability and longevity. The LCD itself has been structured to eliminate any screen distortion when the pen tip is pressed against the surface. The result is an incredibly natural and intuitive experience.
It's not terribly informative, but at least they recognize wear as a concern.
Oh, and sort of important: Versus the intuos3 it has half the pressure sensitivity. I have a "2" and that's just wonderful for recording my marks, but that's me. I know the first intuos' and the graphire lines people said were smaller than that and had issues, but most of them also had teeny 3x4 pads, etc. It's your call.
I am sure that we had answered your questions quite adequately in the other thread. Like I said... I would personally go with the Intuos 3 over the cintiq. Sure, the cintiq looks amazing and impressive, but it is a NEW TECHNOLOGY and not well tested yet by the masses (as someone else said, due to cost). Intuos is a proven brand, and works wonderfully, AND IS MUCH CHEAPER (which is an added bonus). Higher price and lots of bells and whistles does not always mean better quality. I do not think either one is more suited for art... They are BOTH designed for artists, above all else. I am sure they both work for all software (I know the intuos does, and the cintiq is basically an intuos with a monitor built in).
I use mine with Photoshop, and Painter mostly (it is best with painter).
I hope this answers your question again.

As a late adopter (I love the new tech, just not the price tags...), I'd say Intuos. Proven tech, works with nearly everything, and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper :)
I've had an Intuos 2 on my PC for a while, and recently added a Powerbook G4 to my computer arsenal. I downloaded the drivers from the Wacom site, and now my tablet travels between platforms with me. Very cool.
Thanks a lot guys.......I think I made up my mind now. INTUOS3 on its way !!!!
