Konstantin Bronzit’s ‘We Can’t Live Without Cosmos’ wins Cristal award for best short film at the 39th Annecy International Animated Film Festival, while Franck Ekinci and Christian Desmares’ ‘April and the Extraordinary World’ awarded Cristal for best feature film.
The animation world came together in France this week for the 39th Annecy International Animated Film Festival, running June 15-20. The juries awarded their prizes from among 215 films coming out of 40 countries chosen for the 2015 Official Selection, including eight feature films, 53 short films, 29 TV films, 35 commissioned films and 49 graduation films.
Russian animator Konstantin Bronzit brought home the Cristal for a Short Film with 'We Can't Live Without Cosmos,' his poignant and hilarious film about two inseparable astronauts-in-training, while Franck Ekinci and Christian Desmares’ ‘April and the Extraordinary World,’ a French, Canadian and Belgian co-produced adaptation, set in a steampunk universe, of Jacques Tardi’s graphic novel about a girl’s quest to discover the truth behind her scientist-family’s abduction, took home the Cristal for a Feature Film.
