Which animation software to use?

By Dinesh | Monday, March 9, 2015 at 4:02pm

Hi everyone,

I would like to get some advice from you related to learning a computer animation software. I have a big interest in creating animations such as the ones shown on the following YouTube videos:

I would appreciate if you could advise what specific software I should learn to make such animations.

What software for "elastic" shapes?

By Val | Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 6:21am

Could you take a look at this link and tell me what software was used / could be used to create the "elastic" green circles? I am sure I could build the effect manually in Flash, but I was hoping there is a Flash plug-in or another sofware where the effect is pre-built and needs only to be customized. Thank you! Val

Hello all, we launched a 3D model search engine, which finds 3D models on the Internet with simple keyword search. The models can be previewed right on your browser without any plugins! (Chrome and Firefox recommended).

Here's the link: http://www.yobi3d.com

upcoming work shops in California

I live in southern California and need some motivation to get started in animation. I was wondering if anybody knows of an instructional workshop in the near future that offers tutorials and hands on training in 3d animation?

I have a photo/video background and enjoy creating shorts so I'd like to broaden my knowledge of making something from nothing in the 3d world.

Looking for workshops in the so cal area or possibly Vegas.

Need Help. Confused: Uvs and zbrush texturing.

By GoliMoli17 | Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 9:34am

Hi guys. I'm having a little dilemma. I don't really have anyone to guide me through this or I can't find a real definite answer through tutorials and such. I don't have much experience with texturing but from what I already know I don't want to move forward until I'm positive.

If I wanted to use polypaint and add some alphas onto my model in zbrush will my uvs that I did in Uv layout be affected dramatically? Will I've to retouch the uvs or am I safer adding everything i need before i do the uvs?

Organizing your Assets

By smassagee | Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 12:59pm

Hey all!

So, I work for a small animation company, and we are looking for a software to help us organize our assets (mainly our 3D models).  We just need a list of all the models organized in a category but with a picture for each one. Just so we can actually see what the model looks like so we know if that's the one we are looking for. I've found a ton of sites that do organization of files for easy finding, but we need something were we can choose a preview image ourselves. Do any of you have a software that you use, or have any recommendations?

Thanks guys!

I can't get this walk cycle to look the way I want it to look.

I'm working on a videogame and I've tried to make a full walk cycle of a dog. I "rotoscoped" the animation from another gif as you can see in the video. I've only animated the legs, but when I tried making the head bob and moving it butt, it looks very unnatural. I'm about to give up

Setting up a server?

By jdash3d | Friday, May 9, 2014 at 12:11pm

Hey everyone, First time here. We're trying to upgrade our hardware at our studio and we really need to set up a fast server ASAP. We have some current projects and some old, archived, projects. We've been getting by with a makeshift server and backup (converted workstation and NAS) but it's time to buy a real server or two. As we finish projects and enough time goes by, we move the project to the archive folder.

We currently have about 8TB of work. Half current, half archive. NAS for backup.
