The deal, still subject to regulatory approvals, will form a combined virtual MVPD company; Fubo’s existing management team, led by David Gandler, will operate the newly combined Sports & Broadcast services.
The move follows failed talks between Annapurna Pictures founder Megan Ellison and Nathan Gary, former president of Annapurna Interactive, that were aimed at converting the division into a separate company.
The first projects jointly developed under the new pact will be the animated features ‘Bad Fairies,’ a subversive musical comedy set in contemporary London, and ‘The Lunar Chronicles,’ a sci-fi twist on ‘Grimms’ Fairy Tales.’
Joining Picture Shop, Ghost VFX, Formosa Group, and Picture Head, the newly acquired VFX studio expands the post company’s stable of top creative service providers.
Deal is reportedly back on the cable, with Comcast also expressing interest.
