DreamWorks has hired Sam Worthington to star in its sci-fi take on Allan Quatermain, reports HEAT VISION. The AVATAR star will also produce with Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
H. Rider Haggard created the adventurer for the novel KING'S SOLOMON'S MINES. That story follows Quatermain journeying into an uncharted part of Africa in search of a friend's brother and famed treasure.
The new futuristic QUATERMAIN will have the character returning to an abandoned Earth in a grander scaled adventure. Mark Verheiden penned the script.
