Wild Brain Bursts With $20M In Financing

Wild Brain Inc., a San Francisco-based animation producer, has landed US$20 million in its second round of financing, led by first round backers Interfase Capital Partners, LP. The new round of investment dwarfs the original round by $14 million. The funds will be used to continue wildbrain.coms Webisodes; produce POOCHINI, a TV series co-production with German EM.TV; and growing their CGI division with the completion of HUBERTS BRAIN. Joining Interfase in this round are Franz von Auersperg, founding board member of German entertainment giant EM.TV, and Steve Hicks, vice-chairman of the U.S. media conglomerate AMFM. As part of the investment, Hicks has joined Wild Brains board of directors. "This second round of support validates our efforts and the vision weve had for the company from the start," stated Jeffrey C. Ulin, Wild Brain's CEO. "We hit our stride as the top producer of animated commercials and are now building a strong content library across digital and traditional media, together with a distribution ability. With wildbrain.com we're building a new type of network and creating one of the first major digital libraries of Web-based entertainment; in fact, we believe we're the largest producer of original entertainment on the Web today. Coupling this growth with additional television co-productions [soon to be announced], our CGI film, and continued leadership branding global companies in commercials, we are well on our way to building a major diversified entertainment company." Interfase managing partner Scott Hyten said, "We have been astounded at the speed with which the US and International markets have embraced Wild Brain's entertainment content and we're happy to aid the company by providing this additional round of financing."
