Director Gore Verbinski (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trilogy) and producer Graham King (THE DEPARTED) are collaborating to develop and produce a big-budget animated feature with franchise potential. Academy Award nominee John Logan is in discussions to write the script for the untitled feature, which is based on an idea developed by Verbinski's production company Blind Wink Prods. and producer John B Carls (OPEN SEASON).
The creative team also includes PIRATES veterans Mark 'Crash' McCreery (visual effects) and James Ward Byrkit as head of story and storyboard artist.
Kings GK Films and Blind Wink Prods. are producing, with Verbinski, King and Carls as producers. Tim Headington is exec producer, with David Shannon attached as co-producer and conceptual artist.
