Unrated Battlestar Galactica: Razor Available on DVD

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: RAZOR UNRATED EXTENDED EDITION, arrives in stores today (Dec. 4) from Universal Studios Home Ent. ($26.98).

THE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: RAZOR UNRATED EXTENDED EDITION DVD contains an extended version of the two-hour broadcast event on SCI FI that includes all-new characters and more action and vfx than any previous episode in the popular series, as well as behind-the-scenes interviews with the series' creators.

"A lot was done specifically for the DVD only," reports VFX Supervisor Gary Hutzel, who, for the first time, oversaw the work in-house. "Those folks [at Universal Home Ent.] came up with all the money so part of the deal is that they get proprietary material. They have an additional 20 minutes of show and several minutes of visual effects."

Giving a taste of what fans will see, Hutzel teases, "We have a ridiculous sequence that people can't believe when they see it. It's the death of Columbia, which is one of the original series battleships being destroyed. It causes young Adama to go after some Raiders. He hits the atmosphere, ejects and is forced to parachute. In the course of getting out of the ship, he's attacked by a Centurion in mid-air; then they hit the ground and continue the fight! It was over-the-top and pretty demanding. But in order to see that, it's on the DVD!"

Bonus features include:* Deleted Scenes* The Look of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Sit down with director of photography, Stephen McNutt, to see how the series gets its visceral, gritty look.* My Favorite Episode So Far* Sneak Peek into Season Four with Creators David Eick and Ron Moore.* Commentary with Moore and Writer Michael Taylor.

Universal Studios Home Ent. is a unit of Universal Pictures, a division of Universal Studios (www.universalstudios.com). Universal Studios is a part of NBC Universal. NBC Universal is 80%-owned by General Electric, with 20% owned by Vivendi.
