Two 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in the Works

Just as there are two competing THREE MUSKETEERS projects in Hollywood, now there are two competing 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA adaptations, reports HEAT VISION.

Just as there are two competing THREE MUSKETEERS projects in Hollywood, now there are two competing 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA adaptations, reports HEAT VISION. First the site reported that Disney were talking with David Fincher and BOURNE ULTIMATUM writer Scott Z. Burns to get the engines going on their stalled version. Previously the project had been in development with McG.

Now HEAT VISION reports that Fox is also working on an adaptation of the story with producers Ridley and Tony Scott. CLASH OF THE TITANS scribe Travis Beacham has penned a script. Word is that they want Timur Bekmambetov (WANTED) to direct. The Fox take on the story will be set in the future instead of the novel's 1800s setting.

The sci-fi classic from Jules Verne follows a crew sent out to investigate reports of a sea monster sinking ships. The monster turns out to be a submarine powered by the mad genius Captain Nemo.
