Transformers 3 Takes Box Office Again

Paramount and DreamWorks' TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON took the #1 slot at the U.S. box office for a second weekend.

Paramount and DreamWorks' TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON took the #1 slot at the U.S. box office for a second weekend. For the July 8-10 stretch, the robot rampage earned another $47 million. With vfx from Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), Digital Domain, Atomic Fiction, Kerner Optical, Method Studios, Mova, Prana Studios and Prime Focus, the Michael Bay flick has a cume of $261 million.

In second, New Line's HORRIBLE BOSSES murdered in its debut, raising $28.1 million.

Sony's ZOOKEEPER premiered in third with $21 million. Sony Pictures Imageworks (SPI), Amalgamated Dynamics, Creative Initiative Make-Up & FX Studio, Framework Studio, Pixel Liberation Front and Pixomondo provided visual effects.

Disney*Pixar's CARS 2 pulled into fourth, taking in another $15.2 million. The animated spy comedy has made $148.8 million thus far.

Sony's BAD TEACHER scored $9 million in fifth, bringing its cume to $78.8 million.

Placing sixth, Universal's LARRY CROWNE added $6.26 million to its $26.5 million cume.

Paramount's SUPER 8 invaded the seventh slot with $4.83 million. With vfx from Industrial Light & Magic, Scanline VFX, Pixomondo, Evil Eye, Base FX and Bad Robot, the J.J. Abrams original has earned $118.1 million to date.

Fox's MONTE CARLO rolled into eighth place, earning $3.8 million. The tween flick has a cume of $16.1 million.

Warner Bros.' GREEN LANTERN landed in ninth, bringing in an additional $3.13 million. With vfx from 4DMax, BUF, Gnomon Studios, Hydraulx, Mova, Moving Picture Company (MPC), Peanut FX, Pixel Liberation Front, Pixel Playground, Plowman Craven & Associates, Proof, Rising Sun Pictures, Sony Pictures Imageworks (SPI), Stereoscopic FX, Svengali Visual Effects, Trixter Film and i.e. Effects, the DC Comics adaptation has flown in $109.7 million to date.

Fox's MR. POPPER'S PENGUINS closed out the top ten with $2.85 million. With vfx from Rhythm and Hues, the Jim Carrey family flick has a cume of $57.7 million.
