TCM Festival Adds Banned Cartoons Screening

Turner Classic Movies has announced that it has added "Removed From Circulation: A Cartoon Collection" to its TCM Classic Film Festival.

Turner Classic Movies has announced that it has added "Removed From Circulation: A Cartoon Collection" to its TCM Classic Film Festival. Author Donald Bogle will present the Censored 11, which have been kept from the public eye because of negative racial or cultural stereotypes.

The Censored 11 include: Rudolf Ising's HITTIN' THE TRAIL FOR HALLELUJAH LAND (1931); Friz Freleng's SUNDAY GO TO MEETIN' TIME (1936), CLEAN PASTURES (1937), JUNGLE JITTERS (1938) and GOLDILOCKS AND THE JIVIN' BEARS (1944); Tex Avery's UNCLE TOM'S BUNGALOW (1937), THE ISLE OF PINGO PONGO (1938) and ALL THIS AND RABBIT STEW (1941); Bob Clampett's COAL BLACK AND DE SEBBEN DWARFS (1943) and TIN PAN ALLEY CATS (1943); and ANGEL PUSS (1944).

The festival will take place from April 22-25 in Hollywood at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre, The Egyptian Theatre, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and Mann's Chinese 6.
