Strauss and Nevins Get President Stripes at HBO

Home Box Office has elevated Carolyn Strauss and Sheila Nevins to the titles of president, HBO Entertainment and president, HBO Documentary and Family, respectively.

In making the announcement, HBO chairman/ceo Chris Albrecht said, Carolyn and Sheila have made extraordinary contributions to our programming over many years. Their creative instincts have been instrumental to our success and I wanted to acknowledge that with these promotions.

Strauss is responsible for overseeing the development and production of miniseries, series, specials and late-night fare. Formerly evp of original programming, Strauss has supervised the development and production of HBOs acclaimed and award-winning series programming, including THE SOPRANOS, SEX AND THE CITY, SIX FEET UNDER, THE WIRE, CARNIVALE, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, THE CHRIS ROCK SHOW, OZ, THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW, ARLI$$, TRACEY TAKES ON, and in late NIGHT DENNIS MILLER LIVE, DEF COMEDY JAM, DEF POETRY, ALI G, THE KIDS IN THE HALL and MR. SHOW. She joined HBO in 1986.

Nevins is responsible for overseeing the development and production of all documentaries and family programming for HBO and Cinemax and their multiplex channels. Under her tenure as evp of original programming, HBOs critically acclaimed documentary and family programs have won numerous awards including 18 Prime Time Emmy Awards, 32 News and Documentary Emmys, 18 George Foster Peabody Awards, including a Personal Peabody for her outstanding work in Documentary and Family Programming. She also executive produced 12 Academy Award winning documentaries. She has been with HBO since 1979.

The heads of HBOs other two programming divisions, HBO Films president Colin Callender and HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg, will continue to report to Albrecht.
