24 Frames reports that Paramount is looking for a new director for the G.I. JOE sequel. Stephen Sommers, who directed the original G.I. JOE: RISE OF COBRA, had been set to return, but is no longer involved. While the film did well at the international box office, a critical lambasting and rumors of on-set problems plagued Sommers. THE MUMMY moviemaker might be moving on to other projects he has in the works including AIRBORN, WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE remake and a TARZAN reboot.
Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick (ZOMBIELAND) wrote the script for the G.I. JOE sequel.
