Arthur Curry and Orm team to protect their bloodline and Atlantis from the dastardly Black Manta in the ‘Aquaman’ sequel, hitting theaters December 22.
The second full-length trailer – OK a really long TV spot called The Key - for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has officially dropped, and viewers are noticing the lack of a certain controversial redhead.
In the first trailer, it was revealed that Amber Heard will reprise her role as Mera in a significantly diminished capacity, and that she and Jason Momoa’s Arthur Curry have a son. While the son serves a pivotal role in the sequel as part of the Atlantean royal bloodline – get it, ‘The Key’ - it seems Mera may be even further on the backburner, as she does not appear in the recent trailer at all. Has she been cut from the film completely, or is DC just appeasing the Heard haters? We’ll find out soon!

In the long awaited and much written about Aquaman sequel, Arthur has taken up the mantle of King of Atlantis and teams up with his wayward bro Orm (Patrick Wilson) to take out the big bad Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). The logline of the sequel reads, “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
