Sci Fi Channel has partnered with exec producers Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle (MEDICAL INVESTIGATION, THE PRETENDER) to develop TIN MAN, a four-hour miniseries that puts a sci-fi twist on the fantasy classic, WIZARD OD OZ. Mitchell and Van Sickle have also co-written the screenplay.
The story follows Dorothy, a young girl who finds herself plunged into an alternate universe where nothing is quite what it seems. Trapped in the Outer Zone (O.Z.), an exotic and ethnically-diverse land policed by law enforcement officers known as "Tin Men," Dorothy begins a quest to find a way home. Along the way, she encounters three strange but endearing individuals who accompany her on what is to become the adventure of a lifetime.
Sci Fi has also recently announced development deals with Michael De Luca (DARWIN'S CHILDREN), Ridley Scott (THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN), Frank Darabont (THE THING), Bryan Singer and Dean Devlin (THE TRIANGLE), Steven Spielberg (NINE LIVES), Martin Scorsese (THE TWELVE) and Gale Anne Hurd (RED MARS). Sci Fi's next major miniseries, the four-hour EARTHSEA, starring Shawn Ashmore, Isabella Rossellini, Kristin Kreuk and Danny Glover, will premiere on Dec. 13-14, 2004.
