The prestigious, annual international contest garnered 4,400 entries from aspiring design and media entertainment artists; a panel of 150+ judges, including 80 women, selected winners based on criteria including creative, technical, and presentation skills as well as complexity and raw talent.

Winners have been announced for the Rookie Awards 2022, the prestigious annual competition for aspiring design and media entertainment artists. This year’s award season garnered 4,400 entries from international digital artists worldwide, with winners selected by a judging panel of 150+ experts – including 80 women - in their creative and technical fields.

“We are really proud of our judging panel this year, which has a strong female voice with more than 80 incredibly talented and trailblazing women in their fields,” said Alwyn Hunt, co-founder, The Rookies.

Submissions were scored based on criteria including creative skills, technical skills, presentation, variety of skills, complexity, raw talent, and employment potential.

“It always seems so cliche to keep saying the quality of entries is better each year, but it's happened again,” added The Rookies co-founder Andrew McDonald. “The quality of work submitted to the contest is truly inspiring.”

This year’s event had three major sponsors: Autodesk, Unreal Engine, and Lenovo.

"Celebrating new talent and ideas, the Rookie Awards provides creators of all skill levels with a much-needed platform in their emerging careers,” remarked Julie Lottering, Director, Unreal Engine Education at Epic Games. “Epic is proud to sponsor The Rookies as they continue to recognize the exceptional work of students and schools across the globe."
