Red Stick International Animation Festival, which is sponsored by LSU along with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Louisiana Technology Park, East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President's Office and the Baton Rouge Area Digital Industries Consortium, began in 2005 as a way to highlight the emerging digital media sector in the Baton Rouge area, and also to showcase the links among technology, science, art and digital media.
Red Stick International Animation Festival, which is sponsored by LSU along with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Louisiana Technology Park, East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President's Office and the Baton Rouge Area Digital Industries Consortium, began in 2005 as a way to highlight the emerging digital media sector in the Baton Rouge area, and also to showcase the links among technology, science, art and digital media. Since its inception, Red Stick has grown every year, will take place in downtown Baton Rouge's Arts District (Shaw Center for the Arts, Manship Theatre, Louisiana Art and Science Museum, LSU Museum of Art, and Old State Capitol) Nov. 10-13, 2010. The festival features film screenings, lectures and workshops with industry professionals, premieres, and other special events. Admission is as follows:
* Red Pass $5/person: includes access to all film screenings, Cartoon-a-Palooza and the FANDEMONIUM (Red Stick's new comic and pop culture Con event) merchant room
* Gold Pass $60/person: includes all Red Pass privileges; admittance to festival lectures and workshops; access to FANDEMONIUM speaker panels and discussionsSpecial events that take place as part of the festival are ticketed separately
* An All-Access pass for $250/person grants access to all Gold Pass privileges, FANDEMONIUM, VIP Dinner, all special events, and any special premieres. (This covers everything.)
Cartoon-a-Palooza, Saturday, Nov. 13, 9 a.m. until noon at Louisiana's Old State CapitolThis event is an annual highlight of the festival, in which children enjoy their breakfast and Saturday morning cartoons at Louisiana's Old State Capitol, then go play play outside with bubbles, face-painting booths, and spacewalks shaped like classic childhood cartoons. Guests must purchase a Red Stick Red Pass for $5 to attend.
Princess Ball, Sunday, Nov. 7, from 3-5 p.m. at Louisiana's Old State CapitolPrincesses (or princes) of all ages are invited to join us at the Old State Capitol in downtown Baton Rouge on Sunday, November 7, for a fairytale afternoon of glittering magic and whimsy. In honor of Fandemonium, Red Stick's new Con event, the 2010 Princess Ball theme is "Storybook Princesses from Around the World… and Beyond." Guests are invited to attend dressed as princesses from stories, games, and cultures of their choosing, from this planet or others. Tickets to Princess Ball are $20 per person. Tickets are non-refundable, and will be available until capacity is reached.
Video Games Live Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., Baton Rouge River Center ArenaThis performance will be the closing event of the Red Stick International Animation Festival. Red Stick has partnered with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra to present this event, in which the symphony will perform music from popular video games of the past three decades played alongside clips from the games, laser light shows, and some segments where members of the audience can come up and play video games onstage. Tickets are now on sale for this performance through ticketmaster.com, and will be available until sold out. The event includes a 5:30 p.m. meet-and-greet for all ticketholders.
