Due to national, provincial and municipal level cutbacks, the Holland Animation Film Festival (HAFF) might lose its direct government funding. As a result it would have to apply for funds from the Netherlands Film Fund, which is also being given a budget cut of nearly 30%. Additionally, the cuts would result in the closing of the Netherlands Institute for Animation Film (NIAf), reduce the professional animation programs at the Art Academies to one and force The Dutch EYE Film Institute to focus solely on heritage and international promotion, as well as receive a 60% cut in financing.

At various venues in the country, demonstrations have been organized in protest of the spending cuts. The NIAf is organizing a digital protest march. To achieve this march, the NIAf asking the animation industry to share a "walk cycle”. The collected walkcycles can be viewed on the web site www.animationmarch.nl and together they will form an animated protest march.

How to participate?1. Choose a walkcycle (this can either be a new or an existing walkcycle)2. Share your walkcycle on our Dropbox (More info mail to sandra@niaf.nl)3. Send us the film through i.e. Wetransfer via e-mail to sandra@niaf.nl
