Press Release from Sesame Workshop
Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind SESAME STREET and co-producer of PINKY DINKY DOO has been awarded the 2009 Summit Creative Award in the category "youth website," level "gold." The website -- www.pinkydinkydoo.com -- launched on November 24, 2008, and has acquired an exceptional fan base, receiving 600,000 page views per month. This is the site's first award.
The innovative and interactive website features the opportunity for 4-7-year-olds and caregivers to create Pinky stories that may be featured as the "Your Story Box" game. The game allows Pinky fans to submit these stories as user-generated podcasts on the site. Additionally, fans of Pinky Dinky Doo and her eponymous series have the opportunity to learn "great big fancy words" through interactive games, videos, podcasts and printable activities. Each activity features storylines from the hit TV show's second season.
Since PINKY DINKY DOO's second season premiered in September of 2008, it remains one of the top 10 daytime programs on Noggin1. The original series tackles literacy head-on using methods that are relevant, symbolic, visually exciting and downright hilarious in order to convey each lesson. Through the updated website, viewers have the opportunity to experience these lessons hands-on.
"Sesame Workshop is so honored by this achievement and particularly excited because we are currently in the process of creating new digital media experiences for children and their caregivers across all our brands," said Miles Ludwig, Vice President and Executive Producer for Sesame Workshop's Digital Media department. "This award is a tribute to the hard work of our team and a boost to propel us forward as we continue developing engaging content that is enjoyable to children and their parents, who have trusted us to provide quality content for the last 40 years."
PINKY DINKY DOO blossomed from a collection of bedtime stories made up by Jim Jinkins, President and Co-Founder of Cartoon Pizza, along with David Campbell, CEO of Cartoon Pizza, and was nurtured through collaboration with Sesame Workshop. The second season of PINKY DINKY DOO debuted on Noggin in the United States and internationally on CBeebies in the United Kingdom and Discovery Kids Latin America. Currently, PINKY DINKY DOO has over 35 broadcast partners worldwide and covers over 65 territories.
