Fans at San Diego Comic-Con were treated to a peek at the upcoming original movie from the expanding ‘Star Trek’ universe; starring Michelle Yeoh, Omari Hardwick, Sam Richardson and Kacey Rohl, it makes its streaming debut in early 2025.
Paramount+ debuted a teaser trailer for its original movie, Star Trek: Section 31 at San Diego Comic-Con during the Star Trek universe panel this past weekend. Cast members on hand included Omari Hardwick, Sam Richardson, and Kacey Rohl, along with executive producer Alex Kurtzman and director Olatunde Osunsanmi. The film’s star, Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, introduced a surprise video, interruption.
In the movie, premiering in early 2025, Yeoh reprises her role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character she played in Star Trek: Discovery’s first season. The character, who joins a secret division of Starfleet, is tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets while also facing the sins of her past.
Star Trek: Section 31 will be available to stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. and in all international markets where the service is available. Paramount Global Content Distribution is the distributor.

Alongside Hardwick, Richardson and Rohl the movie stars Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, and James Hiroyuki Liao. The new teaser also revealed a first look at a young Philippa Georgiou, played by Miku Martineau (Kate).
Written by Craig Sweeny and directed by Osunsanmi, the movie is executive produced by Kurtzman, Sweeny, Aaron Baiers, Osunsanmi, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, and Yeoh. CBS Studios produces in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.
