Netflix has released the trailer and announced the first cast list and premiere date for its all-new animated film, The Sea Beast, which hits the streamer July 8. The voice cast features Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Dan Stevens, and Kathy Burke.
The story sets up a follows: in an era when terrifying beasts roamed the seas, monster hunters were celebrated heroes - and none were more beloved than the great Jacob Holland. But when young Maisie Brumble stows away on his fabled ship, he’s saddled with an unexpected ally. Together they embark on an epic journey into uncharted waters and make history.
Directed by Academy Award winning filmmaker Chris Williams (Moana, Big Hero 6, Bolt), The Sea Beast is produced by Jed Schlanger p.g.a. and Williams p.g.a. The screenpay is by Williams, and Nell Benjamin. Editor is Joyce Arrastia, with music by Mark Mancina.
