NBC is developing a new supernatural soap titled VINES from exec producer Hideo Nakata (THE RING) and writer Mark Kruger (THE 4400), reports Deadline.com. Nakata is eyeing the project as a directing gig as well.
Originally designed as a feature film by Kruger and producer Michael Aguilar, the story follows a family who runs a Napa winery where the vines hold dark supernatural powers.
UMS, Aguilar's Dos Tontos and OZLA Pictures are producing. Nakata, Kruger and Aguliar are all exec producing.
