Press Release from Nickelodeon

NEW YORK, Oct. 5, 2010 – Steven Tyler, Idina Menzel and Ziggy Marley take a musical trip to Wonderland in a brand new half-hour special of the hit Nickelodeon preschool series, The Wonder Pets!, premiering Friday, Oct. 15, at 10:00 a.m. (ET/PT).  Paying homage to the film classic, “Adventures in Wonderland!” follows the Wonder Pets as they track down the Mad Hatter (Tyler), the Queen of Hearts (Menzel) and the Cheshire Cat (Marley) to invite them to Ollie the Bunny’s special tea party.

“I get to be the Mad Hatter on The Wonder Pets! which is a role made for me,” said Steven Tyler.  “All my life I’ve wanted to get into cartoons and voice-overs and what a blast!  It’s something I’ve wanted to do forever and to get a chance to do this is just another dream come true, another feather in the cap!”

In “Adventures in Wonderland,” Ollie the Bunny is having a tea party in Wonderland but he forgot to invite the guests!  It’s up to the Wonder Pets to find the Mad Hatter (Tyler), the Cheshire Cat (Marley) and the Queen of Hearts (Menzel) and invite them to the party.  But the Mad Hatter wants the Wonder Pets to try on a variety of hats before he’ll listen to their invitation, the Cheshire Cat keeps disappearing and the haughty Queen of Hearts refuses to go.  It’s going to take a lot of teamwork to get this party started.

Nickelodeon will roll out content from “Adventures in Wonderland!” across the following platforms:*    Beginning Monday, Oct. 11, Nick Jr. Video, Nick Jr.’s broadband video service available on Nickjr.com, will begin streaming a two-minute sneak peek from “Adventures in Wonderland!”  Additional clips will be available following the television premiere.*    Following the premiere, the episode will be available for purchase via our download-to-own partners.  *    “Adventures in Wonderland!” will be simulcast on Nickelodeon Mobile on Friday, Oct. 15.

Nickelodeon’s award-winning website, www.nickjr.com, will provide families with activities and games to complement the premiere of “Adventures in Wonderland!”  The site will feature crafts, printables and recipes so families can create their own Wonder Pets in Wonderland-themed party.  Kids can also play the “Adventures in Wonderland” game where they have to collect all the hats, plates and tea cups they can for Ollie’s tea party.

Emmy award-winning The Wonder Pets!, from creator/executive producer Josh Selig of Little Airplane Productions, Inc., is TV’s first mini-operetta for preschoolers and the first preschool series to feature an extensive lineup of Tony award-winning and nominated Broadway composers.  The Wonder Pets! chronicles the adventures of three funny, singing classroom pets: Linny the Guinea Pig (Sofie Zamchick), Ming-Ming Duckling (Danica Lee) and Turtle Tuck (Teala Dunn), who travel the world and use teamwork to save animals in distress.  Like real preschoolers, The Wonder Pets! have no actual super powers, but they work together as a team to overcome adversity and achieve great success.
