Legendary Pictures, the producers of films such as 300, BATMAN BEGINS and SUPERMAN RETURNS, has re-upped its deal with Warner Bros., which includes an injection of more than $1 billion, reports THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. This new deal comes only halfway into its previous deal signed in 2005, extending the pact between the two companies until 2012.
As part of the agreement, Legendary Pictures will produce up to 45 films. Its BATMAN BEGINS sequel, THE DARK KNIGHT, is in production. Films in their pipeline include, a screen version of Vertigo's edgy comicbook THE LOSERS, an screen adaptation of the cult TV series KUNG FU, a big screen rendition of Blizzard Ent.'s online game franchise WORLD OF WARCRAFT, a redux of 1981's fantasy epic CLASH OF THE TITANS, horror film TRICK 'R TREAT, Roland Emmerich's prehistoric epic 10,000 B.C. and Spike Jonze's adaptation of Maurice Sendack's children's classic WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE.
Investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort will advise the two firms and was sole lead arranger on the agreement.
