Jason Moore to Direct ‘Rugrats’ Live-Action/3DCG Hybrid Film

The upcoming project will be set in the real world, but the iconic toddlers will be 3DCG; ‘SNL’s Mike Day and Streeter Seidell on board as writers, with original series creators Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó producing.

The beloved 2D (as well as 3DCG) animated series Rugrats is set to receive a live-action/3DCG hybrid adaptation from Paramount, according to Deadline. Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) is set to direct the film from a script co-written by Mikey Day (Saturday Night Live) and Streeter Seidell.

Rugrats first premiered on Nickelodeon in 1991, and followed toddlers Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil on their various adventures. The series garnered a reboot series in 1996, three animated films, the sequel series All Grown Up!, and a 3DCG reboot in 2021 on Paramount+.

The upcoming film will be set in the real world, but the iconic toddlers will be 3DCG. Can you say nightmare fuel? It is unclear which characters will appear in the film alongside the fabulous crawling foursome.

Karen Rosenfelt produces alongside original series creators Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó.
