The film, which is Danny Boyle's follow-up to SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, is based on a true-life story about Ralston, who spent five days with his right forearm pinned under a boulder during a climb in May 2003. He eventually amputated the limb with a dull knife, scaled a 65-foot sheer wall and hiked out before flagging down help.
Boyle is reuniting with Simon Beaufoy, who is writing the script, and producer Christian Colson.
