Imira Entertainment, Spain’s leading production and distribution company specialising in youth programming, has signed a bouquet of sales across its animation slate with Portuguese public broadcaster RTP.

Barcelona, 22 June 2010: Imira Entertainment, Spain’s leading production and distribution company specialising in youth programming, has signed a bouquet of sales across its animation slate with Portuguese public broadcaster RTP.
The deal includes series from Imira’s wide-ranging third party library such as 6-12 year old-skewed CJ the DJ (52x11’) and book-based The Way Things Work (26x13’) for 6-12 year olds from Millimages, the udderly-entertaining Tangerine & COW (78x7’) from Normaal Animation and France Television, and Chinese legend-inspired Shaolin Whuzang (26x26’) from ZDF Enterprises, as well as a sale for new preschool show Saari (39x3’) produced by Imira with Stor Fisk and TV3.
Christophe Goldberger, Head of Distribution and Marketing at Imira Entertainment said: “We truly value our relationship with RTP; it’s a channel where our shows do very well. We’re really pleased to extend the presence of our series in Portugal as well as signing an additional broadcaster for our new animation Saari.”
New series Saari is a 39x3’ music-based flash animated show for preschoolers about the adventures of a creative group of friends on a beautiful island called Saari. A co-production with Barcelona-based Stor Fisk and TV3, presales have been signed with YLE in Finland, Norway’s NRK and Sweden’s SVT, the Disney Channels in Spain and Italy, Cartoon Network Japan as well as S4C in Wales.
In each episode of Saari, Pulpo the octopus, Buu the lady owl, the sensitive Pii and Rikiki the bohemian bird explore the fantastic and imaginary world of Saari, finding unexpected and funny ways to face the challenges of childhood. Combining experimental learning and humour, the characters will learn, grow and find creative solutions using their imagination through trials and errors.
